Hi, my name is Bruce Rabanit Jr. alias Brukashi. Living in New York has opened my senses to so many things.  The people, places and culture has helped to inspire and challenge my creativity.
Art is a way of expressing how I want to be and what I want to do. Art is a very important outlet for me because it helps me relax and be in my world. Art to me is about self expression and creativity. It is an extension of who I am and how I am feeling.
I have always been inspired by animation. As a very young boy, I enjoyed creating drawings and sculptures of Pixar characters. Those characters became my friends as I was growing up.  Growing up with those animated personalities helped me to understand real life.
I am currently very involved with Japanese animation, particularly the style of Manga and Anime. The Manga/Anime style that I am most inspired by is of Masashi Kishimoto. The first Japanese character that captivated my attention was of Naruto.  The world of Anime and the stories of Naruto’s adventures have inspired me to try new and different things that were outside of my comfort zone.  Thanks to Naruto’s love of Ramen, it made me curious about Japanese food and culture.  Today, Ramen and Sushi are my all time favorite foods.
I have learned that the expression of art through drawing, sculpting and other mediums is not as easy as people may think. It is taking a thought in your head and translating it to something that can be realized and seen.  Art is an expression that creates a different reaction for everyone, people will see what they want to see.  Art is never right or wrong, it is created by a feeling.
